It’s something that we do everyday. We do it while at work, at the grocery store, at the mall, and at home. Some of us do it while we sleep! It’s as normal as breathing, and yet we sometimes minimize its importance. What is this “something” that I’m hinting around to? The answer is talking. We speak and communicate using words that come out of our mouths. What some may not realize, is the significance of the words that we speak. We know how important words are by reading what the scriptures have to say about it. It reads in Genesis 1:1-3:
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
In this passage, I want to place the emphasis on”God said.” God created the universe by speaking it into existence, and we as His children have the same creative power within us. The words that we speak have the power to create blessings or produce curses in our lives. What we say can make the difference between victory or defeat. God wants us to use our words to change circumstances that are not in line with the truth of His word. We are able to accomplish this by saying what God has already declared about us and our circumstances. The law of confession is so powerful. It effects change, not only in our lives, but in the lives of those God has connected to us. We can use our words to edify, heal, and build others up. It reads in Ephesians 4:29:

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.
Since we are created in the image and likeness of God, we are able to function like Him in the earth. How many times have you been faced with a challenging situation and released words that agreed with the circumstance? I’ve done it many times in my life, and that’s exactly what the enemy wants us to do. He wants us to speak words of fear, doubt, and unbelief. The enemy is powerless against us, as long as we do not speak words that agree with his agenda. He needs our words in order to gain authority in our lives. The enemy tempts us at our most vulnerable moments, in hopes that in our weakness, we will speak things that are contrary to the word of God. He tried the same thing with Jesus. It reads in Matthew 4:1-4:
Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.” Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'”
Jesus knew the importance of speaking the right words, and He did not cave in under pressure. We need to self-reflect and ask ourselves, what are we saying when the enemy turns up the heat in our circumstances. What are we saying when we have more bills than money? What are we saying when symptoms of sickness are in our bodies? Is it line with the truth or the circumstances? Speaking the right words will produce victory in our situations. If there is a shortage of God’s word coming out of our mouths, this means there is a shortage of His word in our hearts. It reads in Luke 6:45 and Psalm 119:11:
A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.

Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
When we have more of God’s word on the inside of us, we have more creative power. God’s word will produce miracles and greater manifestation of His promises in our lives. We cannot give what we don’t have on the inside of us. For example, you cannot withdraw money from an empty bank account. Speaking God’s word is a powerful weapon in our arsenal against the enemy. Not having enough of God’s word in our hearts, limits what He can do through us and for us. Let’s be intentional on meditating His word daily, so that when we speak, we are creating heaven on earth in our lives!
